After listing the 20 best video games released on Switch in 2023, Metacritic has also done the same for the titles that landed on the Xbox family of consoles. The criterion for classification is obviously always the same, namely the Meta Score.
For Metacritic Alan Wake 2 is the best video game released on Xbox in 2023although he shares with the runner-up, the complete edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the meta score of 94 (obviously, even if we don’t see it, the adventure of the cursed writer enjoys a few decimal places more). He finishes the podium with a Meta Score of 91 Diablo 4which managed to snatch pride of place from Resident Evil 4 and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.
When you scroll through Metacritic’s top 20, you immediately notice that two very important names are missing. The first is that of Baldur’s Gate 3what we actually expected to be at the top of the rankings: the Xbox Series Portal (at the time of writing it only had three – two 100s and one 98). The second major exclusion is Starfieldwhich simply failed to make it due to a question of scores: the meta score of 83 did not allow it to achieve a place in the top 20, as the last in the standings, Forza Motorsport, managed to do so with a broken headset with an 84 .
